10.40.010 Designation – Placing signs.

Whenever any ordinance or resolution of the city designates and describes any street, the use of which is permitted by any commercial vehicle or by any vehicle exceeding the maximum gross weight limit of four tons, the traffic authority is hereby authorized to designate such street by appropriate signs as a truck traffic route for the movement of commercial vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of four tons. 10.40.020 Use required by heavy vehicles.

When any truck traffic routes are established and designated by appropriate signs, the operator of any commercial vehicle or any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of four tons shall drive on such routes and none other, except when necessary to traverse another street to a destination for the purpose of loading or unloading, but then only by such deviation from the nearest truck traffic route as is reasonably necessary. The provisions of this section shall not apply to passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the public utilities commission. [Ord. 389 § 2, 2-13-62. Code 1959 § 11.69; prior code § 16-116].
