2.35.010 Appointment.

The board of trustees, at its first regular meeting after each election, shall appoint some qualified person as town treasurer. In case a vacancy should occur in the office of treasurer, the board shall appoint a treasurer for the unexpired term and an interim audit shall be performed by the town’s independent auditor. 2.35.020 Oath.

Before entering upon the duties of office, the town treasurer shall take an oath or affirmation of office. The treasurer will turn over and deliver to his/her successor all moneys, books, papers, property or things belonging to the town and remaining in his/her charge as treasurer. [Code 1999 § 2-6-2].

2.35.030 Duties.

The town treasurer shall perform the following duties:

(a) The treasurer shall receive all money belonging to the town and give receipts therefor, shall keep books and accounts in such manner as may be prescribed by the board or by statute of the state of Colorado, shall keep a separate account of each fund or appropriation and of the debits and credits belonging thereto. The treasurer shall provide to the board of trustees, monthly, all financial statements necessary to adequately reflect the financial condition of the town as of the last closing date. All books and accounts of the treasurer shall always be subject to inspection by any member of the board.

(b) Promptly after the close of the fiscal year, the town treasurer shall file a statement showing the town’s financial status with the board. The treasurer shall also provide to the town’s auditor all the information necessary to complete the yearly audit.

(c) It shall be the treasurer’s responsibility to inform the board of the availability of funds for clearing of all checks issued.

(d) The treasurer shall perform all other duties, keep all records and make all reports that are required by the provisions of this code or by the laws of the state of Colorado or requested by the town manager or the board of trustees through the town manager.
