SIGNS PERMITTED IN ALL DISTRICTS

14.30.010 Signs permitted in all districts.

The following signs are permitted in all districts, subject to obtaining the required permits, unless it is specifically stated below that the sign is exempt from permit requirements:

(a) Civic signs used by churches, synagogues or civic organizations.

(b) Directional/informational signs of four square feet or less (exempt).

(c) Holiday and special event signs and decorations (exempt).

(d) One nameplate per building, not to exceed two square feet (exempt).

(e) Political signs of eight square feet or less. Signs pertaining to elections shall be removed within seven days after the election (exempt).

(f) Signs showing underground or public utilities (exempt).

(g) Interior window signs (exempt).

(h) Private warning signs (exempt).

(i) Signs not visible beyond a property line (exempt).

(j) Vending machine signs (exempt).

(k) Real estate signs, not to exceed six square feet in sign area. One sign is allowed on each street frontage. Such signs will be removed within seven days following closing. Real estate parcels one acre or larger may have a real estate sign not in excess of 16 square feet and 10 feet high (exempt).

(l) Vacancy and no vacancy signs of less than four square feet (exempt).

(m) One incidental sign per building not exceeding four square feet (exempt).

(n) Commemorative signs, cornerstones and plaques not exceeding four square feet (exempt).

(o) Signs required or specifically authorized for a public purpose by any law, statute or ordinance (exempt).

(p) Other signs as authorized by action of town board (exempt).

(q) Rear entrance signs.

(r) Building identification signs.

(s) Project development signs.

(t) Construction signs.

(u) Special events signs.

(v) Subdivision entrance signs.

(w) Property management signs, not to exceed six square feet; provided, that the management company manages 65 percent or more of the units in the complex (exempt).

(x) Apartment or condominium complex identification signs.

(y) Any sign used for planning code purposes or liquor licenses. [Amended during 2011 recodification. Code 1999 § 19-7-1].
