2.52.010 Created – Membership.

There is created for the village the Riverdale blood commission, composed of six directors and thirty committee members, of whom two shall serve as cochairmen.

2.52.020 Appointing authority.

The members, directors and cochairmen of the blood commission will be appointed by the president with the advice and consent of the village board, to whom recommendations can be made by the commission.

2.52.030 Residency requirement – Exceptions.

Each member of the Riverdale blood commission shall have been a resident of the village for at least one year prior to his/her appointment. A nonresident may serve as a member of the commission at the request of the blood commission and shall be appointed by the president with the advice and consent of the commissioner and the village board of trustees.

2.52.040 Purpose.

The purpose of the Riverdale blood commission shall be to implement the village blood program by educating the public of the need to participate as a voluntary blood donor so that needs of all the residents of the village as they relate to an adequate supply of raw blood shall be met. The commission will mobilize community resources and encourage the participation of residents in the village blood program. They will also be responsible for conducting a community-wide educational effort to publicize the need for volunteers, the dates and places where donors may give blood, and the benefits that this gives to each resident of the village. They will also solicit other civic groups to help increase the number of residents who can become volunteer blood donors. The commission shall continue to look into and study the blood shortage situation and the question of coverage for participants in the program, and identify and satisfy special areas of need and solicit from residents such information as may further help implement the program.

2.52.050 Subcommittees.

A. The Riverdale blood commission shall meet and elect subcommittees as soon as possible after their appointment as directors and confirmation by the board of trustees. The commission shall include the following directors and subcommittees:

Two cochairmen and six directors of the commission who shall include:

Director of public relations with two or three serving on the subcommittee;

Director of businesses and schools with four serving on subcommittee;

Director of clubs and churches (host groups) with three on subcommittee;

Director of sites (locations) with two or three on subcommittee;

Director of telephone committee with ten or twelve serving on subcommittee;

Director (secretary-treasurer) who shall be one person.

B. The commission shall hold meetings as often as necessary and they shall be held in the Village Hall, or in some other suitable place.
