10.64.010 Parking areas and fees.
A. General.
1. Vehicles in excess of eight thousand pounds are not authorized to park in areas specified in this chapter.
2. The fees specified in this chapter are for twelve-hour periods or any portion thereof. Fees shall be paid for by the deposit of the proper monies for the time desired in the specified deposit box for the particular parking space, which are number coordinated.
3. For the purpose of this chapter, holidays are New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
4. The director of public works shall post the appropriate signs pertaining to the parking restrictions associated with the parking areas of this section.
B. Parking Lots off of Illinois Street from 145th Street to 146th Street and 138th Street Serving the Ivanhoe/Riverdale METRA Station. Any person desiring to park any vehicle within these lots shall pay a fee of one dollar and fifty cents, which shall be paid exclusively in the form of tokens purchased through the village of Riverdale. Tokens shall be available for purchase at the Riverdale Village Hall or at the Riverdale police department.
C. Parking Lot on Illinois Street from 137th Street to 139th Street and Street Parking West of the METRA Station. Any person desiring to park any vehicle within this lot shall pay a fee of one dollar and fifty cents.
D. 137th Street and State Street parking lots on northeast and southeast corners – monthly parking. Any person desiring to park any vehicle within the 137th Street and State Street parking lots shall purchase a monthly parking permit from the village clerk and shall display same in the right-hand corner of the front windshield of their vehicle. The monthly parking permit fee is eighteen dollars per calendar month.
E. 144th Street and LaSalle Street parking lot southwest corner. No person shall park any vehicle in this lot for more than three hours. The south row of parking spaces in this parking lot are designated as restricted parking-by-permit only. Only those vehicles issued a permit by the village clerk shall be permitted to park in this row. Any person violating the provisions of this restricted parking row shall be issued a ticket and the vehicle towed at the owner’s expense. 10.64.020 Unlawful acts.
A. It is unlawful to park any vehicle or to permit a vehicle to remain parked in any parking lot for a period longer than the time paid for, except on Sundays and holidays.
B. It shall be unlawful for any person to tamper with, deface, destroy, or damage any deposit box, parking lot, or parking area fixture provided by the village for designated parking, or to remove any coins or currency therefrom. (Ord. 99-08, 1999)
10.64.080 Parking lots – Deposit box.
Any person desiring to park any vehicle within the south parking lot located at 144th Street and the Illinois Central Railroad; or the parking lot located at 144th Street and Ivanhoe Drive, shall deposit the proper coins for the time desired in the specified deposit box for the particular parking space, which are number coordinated – one dollar and fifty cents for twelve hours of time desired. All vehicles shall be parked in each space in such a manner that the front end of said vehicle is driven into the space. For those designated parking spots on village streets, all vehicles shall be parked in each space in such a manner that the entirety of the vehicle is within the designated space. 10.64.900 Violations.
Any person violating the provisions this chapter shall be subject to the penalties as provided under the Riverdale Municipal Code. (Ord. 99-08, 1999)
