AREA PLAN COMMISSION

2.52.010 Establishment.
There is created the area plan commission of Evansville and Vanderburgh County with its term of existence and its powers, authorities, and duties beginning as of April 10, 1968. The board of county commissioners does hereby establish as a part of county government an area planning department to be known as the area plan commission of Evansville and Vanderburgh County, effective April 10, 1968.

2.52.020 Powers, functions and duties.
The area plan commission of Evansville and Vanderburgh County shall have the powers, functions, and duties and shall be constituted, as defined by IC 36-7-4-200 et seq.

2.52.030 Composition.
The city of Evansville located within the jurisdiction of the area plan commission and within Vanderburgh County, is a second-class city with more than one hundred five thousand (105,000) people according to the 1980 decennial federal census. The representatives on the area plan commission of Evansville and Vanderburgh County representing the city shall, in accordance with IC 36-7-4-207 and 36-7-4-209, be seven in number, one of whom shall be a member of the board of public works of the city, to be selected by the mayor; one of whom shall be a member of the common council of the city, to be selected by the common council; and five of whom shall be citizen members to be selected by the mayor. Any citizen member selected by the mayor, may also be a member of the Evansville-Vanderburgh school corporation board, the board of park commissioners of the city, or the board of the Evansville recreation commission.
B. As provided in IC 36-7-4-208, the number of representatives for Vanderburgh County shall be six, selected as follows.
1. One (1) member appointed by the County Executive from its membership.
2. One (1) member appointed by the County Fiscal Body from its membership.
3. One (1) representative appointed by the Superintendent of the Evansville-Vanderburgh County School Corporation.
4. One (1) of the following appointed by the County Executive:
a. The County Agricultural Extension Educator.
b. The County Surveyor or the County Surveyor’s designee.
5. One (1) citizen member who is a resident of the unincorporated area of the County, appointed by the County Executive.
6. One (1) citizen member who is a resident of the unincorporated area of the County, appointed by the County fiscal body.

2.52.040 Term of office.
The terms of office of all of the representatives of Section 2.52.030 shall be in accordance with, in conformity to, and controlled by the terms of office as established under IC 36-7-4-217 and 36-7-4-218.
