B. Definitions. For the purpose of this section the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
“Advisory board” means the advisory board created hereunder.
“Auditorium” means the Vanderburgh County auditorium and convention center situated in the city of Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana.
“County” means Vanderburgh County, Indiana.
B. Creation of Board. There is created an advisory board consisting of five members, as follows. Composition of the advisory board shall be bipartisan, and, therefore, not more than three members of the advisory board may be of the same political party. The board of commissioners shall appoint three members and the county council shall appoint two members to the advisory board. The members of the advisory board shall perform their services without compensation. The term of office of any elected member of the advisory board shall be coterminous with his term of office. The term of office of each other member of the advisory board shall be two years. The initial two-year term shall commence upon the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter. Within thirty (30) days after all initial members of the advisory board have been appointed, the advisory board shall conduct its first meeting for the purpose of election of officers, including a chairman and a vice-chairman, and in order to conduct such other business as may properly come before the meeting. The advisory board shall elect a secretary who shall keep the minutes of all meetings of the advisory board. The purpose of the advisory board is to act in an advisory capacity to the governing body of the county with respect to the review and supervision of the operation of the auditorium, including management and promotion policies, maintenance, capital improvements, and long and short range planning. The advisory board may make recommendations to the governing body of the county from time to time concerning any aspect of operations of the auditorium. Expenses of the advisory board shall be approved in advance by the board of county commissioners.
