70.01 TRAFFIC CODE – ADOPTED.
For the purpose of regulation of vehicular and pedestrian traffic within the city, there is adopted by the Governing Body the 2004 New Mexico Uniform Traffic Ordinance, and any subsequent amendments made thereto and compiled therein, and the provisions thereof shall be controlling within the city to the same extent as if such provisions were set out in full in this chapter. A copy of the 2004 Uniform Traffic Ordinance is available at the office of the City Clerk for inspection and copying.

70.02 ENFORCEMENT. Revised 9/24
The City Manager, the Chief of Police and law enforcement officers shall enforce the provisions of the Uniform Traffic Code. The Chief of Police may authorize non-law enforcement officers as designees to enforce certain provisions of the adopted Uniform Traffic Code. Any such authorization shall be in writing and expressly state which provisions the Chief of Police’s designee has authority to enforce. The Chief of Police may revoke the authority granted under this subsection at any time.
