2.12.010 Created—Authority.
In compliance with and by virtue of the provisions of that certain act of legislature of the State of Nevada entitled “An Act to create a County Board of Health in each of the several counties of the State of Nevada,” approved March 2, 1905, being Sections 2981 and 2982, Revised Laws of Nevada, a county board of health is created to consist of the county physician, the sheriff, and the board of county commissioners. The county physician shall act as chairman of the board of health, and the members of the board are to act as such without further or additional compensation. (Ord. 8-14-1916 § 1)
2.12.020 Duties.
It is the duty of the board of health to oversee all sanitary matters and conditions within the county; to supervise, control and enforce such health regulations as will best subserve the public health and cleanliness of the county; to assist the proper officers in the enforcement of all laws of the state and all ordinances of the county, and the towns of Lovelock and Winnemucca, which relate to the public health and sanitation of the county and towns, and matters properly connected therewith. 2.12.030 Sanitary inspectors—Appointment—Compensation.
The board of health has the power, by and with the advice and consent of the board of county commissioners, acting as town boards in and for the towns of Lovelock and Winnemucca, to appoint a sanitary inspector for each of the towns for such periods of time and with such compensation as the board may deem advisable. The compensation of the sanitary inspector shall be provided by the towns and not by the county. (Ord. 8-14-1916 § 3)
2.12.040 Sanitary inspectors—Duties.
It is the duty of the sanitary inspectors, under the provision and direction of the board of health, to assist the board and the proper county officers in the enforcement of all laws, ordinances and regulations relating to the public health and sanitation of the towns within and for which they are appointed, and to perform such other duties as are provided by law or regulation of the board of health. They shall have the power of a police officer in the enforcement of all health and sanitary laws, ordinances and regulations of the board of health within the town, and within the meaning and for the purposes of this chapter shall be deemed to be agents of the board of health.
