Each ordinance adopted by the city of Battle Ground shall be published at least once in The Reflector newspaper, which is designated as the official newspaper for the city of Battle Ground. Such publication shall be in accordance with RCW 35A.12.160, as it now exists, or is hereafter amended. (Ord. 495 § 2, 1983)
1.04.020 Hours of operation.
The hours of operation for city offices will be Monday through Friday of each calendar week from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except for recognized holidays or as required to meet special circumstances, the needs of the public, and resources available at the discretion of the city manager. 1.04.030 Holidays.
A. The following days shall be recognized as legal holidays during which all offices of the city of Battle Ground, including the municipal court, shall be closed for the transaction of business unless otherwise ordered by the city manager and/or city council:
1. First day of January, commonly known as New Year’s Day;
2. The third Monday of January, celebrated as the anniversary of the birth of Martin Luther King Jr.;
3. The third Monday in February, to be known as President’s Day and celebrated as the births of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington;
4. The last Monday of May, commonly known as Memorial Day;
5. The nineteenth day of June, to be known as Juneteenth Day;
6. The fourth day of July, being the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence;
7. The first Monday of September, to be known as Labor Day;
8. The eleventh day of November, to be known as Veteran’s Day;
9. The fourth Thursday in November, to be known as Thanksgiving Day;
10. The Friday immediately following the fourth Thursday in November, to be known as Native American Heritage Day;
11. The twenty-fourth day of December, commonly known as Christmas Eve; and
12. The twenty-fifth day of December, commonly known as Christmas Day.
B. Whenever a recognized holiday falls upon a Sunday, the following Monday shall be the recognized holiday and whenever a recognized holiday falls upon a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be the recognized holiday.
C. Pursuant to RCW 1.16.050, employees of the city of Battle Ground shall also be entitled to two unpaid holidays per calendar year for a reason of faith or conscience or an organized activity conducted under the auspices of a religious denomination, church, or religious organization.
