2.36.010 Definitions.

Words used in this chapter shall have the following meanings:

“Committee” means the park advisory committee.

“Park” means an area of land, with or without water, developed and used for public recreational purposes, including landscaped tracts, picnic grounds, playgrounds, athletic fields, recreation centers, camps, foot, bicycle and bridle paths, motor vehicle drives, facilities for bathing, boating, fishing, as well as other recreation facilities for the use and benefit of the public. 2.36.020 Officers—Terms—Appointment—Compensation.

Immediately upon appointment, the members designated to act on the committee shall assemble for organization, and for convenience of business transactions shall elect a chairperson, vice-chairperson and secretary whose duties shall be the duties indicated by such designation. The term of office for the committee members, after the initial appointment, shall be set up for four years from December 31, 2006. The mayor shall be empowered to originally appoint one member for two years, one member for three years, and one member for four years, and the other two committee members will be members of the city council. All appointees will serve until successors are appointed and qualified. There is no compensation for these positions. (Ord. 787 (part), 2006)

2.36.030 Duties—Quorum—Meetings.

It shall be the duty of the chairperson to preside at all meetings of the committee, the duty of the vice-chairperson to preside over meetings in the absence of the chairperson and the duty of the secretary to keep minutes of all meetings and of all proceedings of the committee. A majority of the board shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. The committee will meet once a month on the third Thursday at six p.m. (Ord. 787 (part), 2006)

2.36.040 Powers and duties.

The committee shall recommend to the mayor and the city council issues regarding all parks and recreational facilities and programs of the city. The committee shall have the power to advise regarding the establishment of a park and/or recreation facility. The committee shall advise regarding planning, promotion, acquisition, construction and development of programs for the children and adults of our community. (Ord. 787 (part), 2006)
