10.16.010 General prohibitions.
It is unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to park said vehicle:
A. In front of public or private driveway;
B. Within fifteen feet of a fire hydrant;
C. At any place where official signs prohibit stopping;
D. Within twenty feet of a crosswalk at an intersection;
E. Within thirty feet of any flashing signal, stop sign, yield sign or traffic-control signal located at the side of a street or roadway. (Ord. 740 § 2, 2024; Ord. 58 § 6, 1949)
10.16.015 Parking during snow event prohibited.
A. Whenever the public works superintendent, on the basis of falling snow, sleet or freezing rain, or on the basis of a forecast by the National Weather Service of snow, sleet or freezing rain (collectively referred to as “snow event”) will make it necessary that parking on city streets be prohibited or restricted for snow plowing, de-icing, and other purposes, the city shall put into effect a parking prohibition on all streets. During a snow event (as determined by the city), parking shall be prohibited on all streets within the municipal limits of the city between the hours of one a.m. and eight a.m. to facilitate de-icing and snow removal by the city. Any vehicle found parking on any city street, alley, or right-of-way between the hours of one a.m. and eight a.m. during a snow event, or otherwise interfering with the ability to remove snow, will be first issued a letter of warning of such violation from the city, which will be placed on the vehicle. The driver and/or owner of the vehicle must remove the vehicle to a place off city property within six hours of issuance of the letter of warning, or prior to seven a.m. (whichever is first) to allow for completion of de-icing and/or snow removal. Letters of warning will only be placed upon vehicles for the first offense of failing to comply with the requirements of this section.
B. Any vehicle found to be left and not removed six hours after the issuance of a letter of warning, or prior to seven a.m. (whichever is first), may be impounded at the request of the city, and all expenses incurred in such impound and/or storage shall be the sole responsibility of the owner of the vehicle. 10.16.020 November 15th to March 15th—Odd-numbered and even-numbered sides of street on certain days.

10.16.030 Prohibited in alleys—Exception.
It is unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to park the same in any alley, except for the purpose of loading or unloading said vehicle, within the incorporated city. (Ord. 740 § 2, 2024; Ord. 58 § 2, 1949)
10.16.040 Two a.m. to six a.m.—Portion of Columbia Avenue.
A. There shall be no parking of any motor vehicles or motorcycles on Columbia Avenue from Tenth Street to Thirteenth Street from two a.m. to six a.m. on all days of the months.
B. Parking in violation of this section is unlawful and anyone violating this section may be charged with a misdemeanor. (Ord. 740 § 2, 2024; Ord. 179 §§ 1, 3 (part), 1971)
10.16.050 Angle parking required—Portion of State Route 173.
A. It is unlawful for any person to stand or park a vehicle at any time on any day at other than an angle as marked and signed on the south side of the following described section of state highway: State Route 173 from milepost 0.15 at Twenty-Fifth Street northwesterly to milepost 0.21 at Twenty-Fifth Street, a distance of 0.06 mile.
B. Any person violating any provision of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than two hundred fifty dollars or by imprisonment in the city jail for a period not to exceed ninety days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. 10.16.060 Parking of trucks prohibited on Columbia Avenue—Exception.
It is unlawful for any truck to park on Columbia Avenue within the incorporated limits of the city, except while the same is being loaded or unloaded at a regularly authorized loading or unloading zone. (Ord. 740 § 2, 2024; Ord. 58 § 3, 1949)
10.16.070 Emergency vehicle parking area.
A. Twelfth Street between Columbia Street and the alley adjacent to City Hall is set aside for the parking of vehicles used for the transportation of firemen and emergency medical technicians answering emergency calls.
B. Any other vehicle parking in the emergency parking area will be impounded and towed away at the owner’s expense.
C. This parking restriction is effective twenty-four hours every day. (Ord. 740 § 2, 2024; Ord. 216 §§ 1, 2, 3, 1976)
10.16.080 Post office—Ten minute parking.
A. In front of the U.S. Post Office, a parking space sixty feet in length shall be restricted to ten minute parking only; signs designating the limits of the space and stating “Ten Minute Parking Only” shall be installed.
B. Any person, firm or corporation violating this section shall be guilty of a civil infraction punishable by a civil penalty of not more than one hundred fifty dollars. (Ord. 740 § 2, 2024; Ord. 188, 1973)
