ARTERIAL STREETS

10.20.010 Major arterial streets designated.

The following are designated as major arterial streets: commencing at the city limits on Maple Avenue, streets now a part of State Highway No. 10, to Tenth Street, following Tenth Street to Columbia Avenue; Columbia Avenue to Sixteenth Street; Foster Avenue to Seventeenth Street; Seventeenth Street to Foster Creek Avenue; Foster Creek Avenue to Columbia River Bridge. 10.20.020 Secondary arterial streets designated.

The following streets are designated as secondary arterial streets:

A.    Columbia Boulevard-Fairview from Twenty-Fourth Street to Tenth Street;

B.    Tenth Street from Fairview to Columbia Avenue;

C.    Columbia Avenue from First Street to Tenth Street;

D.    Douglas Avenue from Tenth Street to Eighteenth Street;

E.    Eighteenth Street from Douglas Avenue to Foster Creek Avenue;

F.    Sixteenth Street from Douglas Avenue to Lincoln Avenue. (Ord. 740 §§ 3, 5, 2024; Ord. 367 § 1, 1989: Ord. 246, 1979: Ord. 153 § 2, 1961)

10.20.030 Improvement authorized as funds become available.

Repealed by Ord. 740. (Ord. 153 § 3, 1961)

10.20.040 Arterial streets for truck traffic.

The city ordains that the following streets are designated arterial streets which may be utilized for truck traffic for a combined loading of ten thousand pounds or over:

A.    SR 173 (State Highway);

B.    Douglas Avenue, Tenth to Sixteenth Streets;

C.    Sixteenth Street, Tacoma Avenue to SR 173;

D.    Tacoma Avenue, Fourteenth Street to Sixteenth Street;

E.    Fairview Avenue, Columbia Boulevard, Seventeenth Street to Twenty-Fourth Street;

F.    Columbia Avenue, First Street to Tenth Street.

Therefore, all other streets are restricted to passenger vehicles only and no through truck traffic is permitted thereon. Truck traffic on other city streets is permitted for delivery and pick-up only and such traffic as well as truck traffic originating at other locations where city street travel is necessary must proceed by the shortest and most direct route to the city arterial system.
