CRIMES AGAINST THE PERSON

10.24.010 Assault.

(1) A person is guilty of assault when he:

(a) With intent to cause bodily injury to another person, causes bodily injury to any person; or

(b) Intentionally places or attempts to place another person in fear or apprehension of bodily injury by:

(i) Any act; or

(ii) Any act and word or threat.

(2) Assault is a gross misdemeanor. (Ord. 5-99 § 1, 1999; Ord. 1066 § 87, 1983; Ord. 737 § 1.16.010, 1968).

10.24.015 Simple assault.

(1) A person is guilty of simple assault when he intentionally and without permission touches another person and that touching is offensive, as opposed to defensive.

(2) Simple assault is a lesser included offense of assault as defined in BMC 10.24.010.

(3) Simple assault is a misdemeanor. (Ord. 5-99 § 2, 1999).

10.24.020 Provoking assault.

It is unlawful for any person to by word, sign or gesture, provoke or attempt to provoke, another person to commit an assault or breach of the peace. (Ord. 1066 § 89, 1983; Ord. 737 § 1.16.030, 1968).

10.24.040 Coercion.

The following provision of the Revised Code of Washington pertaining to coercion is adopted by reference, as it now exists or as it may hereafter be amended:

10.24.050 Custodial interference.

The following provisions of the Revised Code of Washington pertaining to custodial interference are adopted by reference, as they now exist or as they may hereafter be amended. In adopting said state statutes by reference, only those crimes and offenses within the jurisdiction of a municipality are intended to be adopted, and, in those sections adopted which define both misdemeanors and felonies, only the language applicable to misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors is to be applied.

10.24.070 Intimidation with firearm.

10.24.090 Interfering with and intimidating school administrator, teacher or student.

10.24.120 Antiharassment orders.

10.24.130 Adoption of official response to domestic violence by reference.

RCW 10.99.010, 10.99.020, 10.99.030(1) through (8), 10.99.040(1) through (4)(a), (4)(c) and (5), 10.99.045, 10.99.050, 10.99.055, 10.99.070, 10.31.100 and Chapter 7, Section 430 of the 1994 First Extraordinary Session are adopted by reference. (Ord. 2-95 § 3, 1995).
