9.02.030 Exceptions.
The following persons shall be exempt from the application of this chapter:
1. Marshals, sheriffs, prison or jail wardens or their deputies, policeman, prosecuting attorney, deputy prosecuting attorneys, wildlife agent or “ex officio wildlife agent” as defined in RCW 77.08.010, or other law enforcement officers or employees of law enforcement agencies as that term is defined in RCW 10.97.030(5).
2. Members of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the United States or of the National Guard or organized reserves when on duty and when acting as law enforcement personnel on behalf of their respective organizations.
3. Members of national security organizations, which shall include the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Central Intelligence Agency or other federal organizations authorized by federal law to carry firearms or weapons.
4. Any participant, party or attorney to a civil or criminal proceeding who produces or possesses a weapon listed in Section 9.02.020 for the purpose of that proceeding.
5. Any county employee who holds, transfers, possesses or has custody of a weapon pursuant to the requirements of their position.
6. Elected county officials, superior court and district court judges and any person possessing a weapon with the permission of one of them. (Sec. 3 of Ord. 1984-08-33)
