There is established and created in the city of Colville, Washington, a city planning commission to be instituted and conducted in accordance with the requirements and plan of Chapter 44 of the Session Laws of 1935 of the State of Washington, codified in Chapter 35.63 RCW, as the same may be amended. (Ord. 1543 NS § 1, 2015).
2.40.020 Membership – Terms – Vacancies.
The city planning commission shall consist of seven members. Four of the seven city planning commission members shall be selected from residents living within the Colville city limits. Three of the seven city planning commission members may be selected from citizens living in the city’s urban growth area (UGA) and/or be owners of a business located in Colville, and/or own property within the Colville city limits. The term of office for members shall correspond to their respective tenures and the first appointive members shall have terms of from one to six years in such a manner that the fewest possible terms shall expire in one year. Thereafter the term for each appointive member shall be six years. Vacancies occurring other than through expiration of terms shall be filled for the unexpired term. (Ord. 1543 NS § 2, 2015).
2.40.030 Membership – Appointment, removal and compensation.
The members of the city planning commission shall be appointed by the mayor and confirmed by a majority of the city council. Members may be removed after public hearing by the mayor with the approval of a majority of the council for inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance in office. Members shall be selected without respect to political affiliation and appointive members shall serve without compensation. Any member that no longer qualifies for membership on the commission per the requirements in CMC 2.40.020 will be asked to resign their position on the commission. (Ord. 1543 NS § 3, 2015).
2.40.040 Powers and duties.
The city planning commission and commissioners shall have the duties permitted by law and exercise all the powers provided by law. (Ord. 1543 NS § 4, 2015).
