8.12.010 Seasonal restrictions.
A. The provisions of this section shall apply to all areas within the county outside the limits of incorporated towns and cities from June 1st to October 1st of every year.
B. No person shall burn or cause to be burned any trash, leaves, straw, stubble, brush, logs, stumps, or any other combustible material in any street, alley, road, land, or upon any public grounds or upon any private lot or tract of land unless a permit has first been obtained. Such permit shall be issued by the authorized fire district officer according to RCW 52.12.101. For areas outside of fire protection districts, such permits shall be issued by the fire marshal according to DCC Section 15.08.040 (International Fire Code). The fire district officer and fire marshal may establish permit expiration provisions for any permit. The fee for permits issued outside of fire protection districts shall be established by resolution of the board of commissioners.
C. Burning shall conform to International Fire Code Section 307.4.2 as it now exists or may hereafter be amended.
D. Any person to whom a permit is issued under this chapter shall, from the time a fire is kindled until the time it is extinguished, have such fire continuously under the care and direction of a competent person, who shall take proper precautions to prevent the spread of such fire to adjacent property or materials and to keep or maintain the fire under full control.
E. Any person who violates any provision of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor. (Ord. TLS 10-01-01B: prior code § 9.09.020)
