DIVERSITY ADVISORY BOARD

2.136.010 Established.
There is hereby created a diversity advisory board, whose purpose shall be to advise the mayor and city council on matters relating to diversity and inclusion. (Ord. 3023-07 § 1, 2007)
2.136.020 Membership, appointment and terms.
A. The diversity advisory board shall consist of fifteen members who reflect the diverse community that is Everett, which includes such diversities as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs and other ideologies.
B. The mayor shall appoint the fifteen members with approval by city council. The members of the board shall serve four-year terms beginning October 1, 2007, except that the first fifteen members shall be appointed for different terms as follows:
1. Seven members appointed for a period of four years; and
2. Eight members appointed for a period of two years. (Ord. 3023-07 § 2, 2007)
2.136.030 Objectives of board.
The diversity advisory board shall meet the following objectives:
A. Every two years, the board will create a work plan outlining goals and expectations of the board for a two-year period.
B. Make recommendations concerning city policies and programs needed to suit the diverse character of the community.
C. Encourage constructive dialog and education regarding the diverse make-up of the community and identify how that can result in including all members of the community in city business.
D. Strengthen and coordinate the city’s responses to the requests and concerns of the community regarding diversity and inclusion issues.
E. Use education and information to support city leaders in their efforts to carry the message of inclusion to the broader community. (Ord. 3023-07 § 3, 2007)
