The chief of police may issue a limited commission to persons whenever such limited commission will serve and assist the police department in maintaining adequate police protection and other law enforcement services including, but not limited to, providing support to the department and the issuance of civil infractions. Each limited commission will specifically state the ordinances for which the holder may issue citations for civil infractions, and limited commission officers shall have those limited enforcement powers as are specifically designated in the appointment by the chief of police.
The chief of police shall determine the standards for the selection and training specific to the limited commission being granted; and shall be responsible for developing rules and regulations directing the use of limited commission officers. The limited commission appointment terminates on December 31st of the year of issuance, and may be renewed upon application.
The limited commission may be revoked at any time by the chief of police. Said commission shall not vest any person with any police civil service or police pension rights under federal, Washington State law or under any ordinance or regulation. (Ord. 3678-19 § 1, 2019)
