POLICE ESCORT SERVICE

2.44.010 Rates.
If there is a need for a police escort or if one is requested for a funeral procession or for the transport of machinery, equipment, building materials, houses, poles and other objects in the city streets, the person, firm or organization requesting the escort or responsible for transport shall pay a fee equivalent to the overtime rate per hour, plus overhead as determined by the chief of police and approved by the finance and budget director, or a minimum fee of fifteen dollars whichever is higher, for each uniformed man and vehicle assigned to escort duty. 2.44.020 Indemnification and insurance.
All persons utilizing police escort services shall execute a release and indemnification of the city in a form to be approved by the city attorney. In addition, such persons shall present a certification of insurance, including the city as named insured, for all liability in connection with the activity for which traffic escort services are required in the amount of fifty thousand dollars for property damage and for one hundred fifty thousand dollars for personal injuries. 2.44.030 Deposit—Penalty for nonpayment.
The fee for such escort service shall be paid to the city within thirty days of such service and if not so paid there shall be a penalty of six percent per month added to the amount due. The city reserves the right to demand a deposit in the amount of the estimated total fee before providing escort service. (Prior code § 1.96.030)
