2.64.010 Oath and bond requirements.

(a) Oath Required. Before entering upon the performance of the duties of office, any city officer shall take an oath or affirmation for the faithful performance of the officer’s duties. The oath or affirmation for elected officials shall be filed with the Pierce County auditor.

(b) Bond Required. Prior to entering upon the performance of duties, the city manager, finance director, accountant, and police chief shall be required to furnish an official bond, to be renewed annually, conditioned upon the honest and faithful performance of their duties. The premium on the bonds shall be paid by the city. The amount of the bonds shall be: city manager – $10,000, finance director – $25,000, accountant – $25,000, and police chief – $10,000.
