2.04.030 Waiver of compensation by city councilmembers.
2.04.010 Meetings.
The council of the city will hold regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of every month at the hour of six p.m. (Ord. 583, 1994: Ord. 416, 1978: Ord. 339, 1969: Ord. 231 § 1, 1947)
2.04.020 Salaries.
A. Councilmembers whose term of office begins on January 1, 2024, shall be paid a salary of three hundred dollars ($300.00) per month.
B. Councilmembers whose term of office begins on January 1, 2026, shall be paid a salary of three hundred dollars ($300.00) per month. (Ord. 941 § 1, 2023; Ord. 751, 2009; Ord. 712, 2005: Ord. 568A §§ 1—3, 1992)
2.04.030 Waiver of compensation by city councilmembers.
A. Councilmembers and Mayor Waiver and Election not to Receive Compensation. A councilmember or the mayor may voluntarily waive and elect not to be paid all or any portion of the salaries set forth in Section 2.04.020 during their term of office. Notice of waiver and election must be:
1. In writing and delivered to the city treasurer prior to the effective date; and
2. Signed by the individual and their spouse, if married, as required by RCW 49.48.100. Signature(s) shall be before a notary public.
B. The waiver shall be effective for all salary earned following the effective date and continue in effect until withdrawn by a writing signed by the individual or their spouse delivered to the city treasurer. It shall be presumed that salaries or portions of salaries that are declined or waived pursuant to this section shall be unrestricted in its use by the city; provided, that this presumption may be rebutted by any councilmember or the mayor directing in writing that his or her waived salary be utilized for a different city purpose.
