5.02.010 Application for license.

Any person intending to carry on or exercise any vocation, trade, or calling shall make application to the finance director for a license authorizing such vocation, trade, or calling. The applicant shall pay to the finance director, at the time of presenting the application for such license, a fee for such vocation, trade, or calling in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.

5.02.020 Requisite for permit.

Upon receipt of the application for a license in any of the cases mentioned in this chapter and the payment to the finance director of the requisite license fee, the finance director shall have the authority to issue the license to the person making such application and paying the license fee. If a license shall be issued under this chapter to any firm or corporation, the conduct and operation of the business contemplated shall be by some responsible person who shall assume all liability for any violations of this chapter in the conduct of such business, and shall be subject to the penalties provided in this chapter for any violations.

5.02.030 Pool and billiard tables.

The license fee for any public place or resort operating a business wherein pool or billiard tables are operated shall be fifty dollars ($50) per year for the first two (2) billiard or pool tables and ten dollars ($10) per year for each additional pool or billiard table.

5.02.040 Bowling alleys.

The license fee for operating any bowling alley within the limits of the city shall be ten dollars ($10) per year for each alley installed or operated.

5.02.050 Roller skating rinks.

The license fee for the use of any amusement place wherein roller skating is permitted shall be twenty-five dollars ($25) per year. The aforesaid amusement place shall not be used for any other purpose than roller skating.

5.02.060 Circuses and sideshows.

The minimum license fee for any circus, sideshow, or other similar entertainment or business shall be the sum of four hundred dollars ($400) and, in addition, the sum of one hundred dollars ($100) per day for each day or portion thereof over four (4) that the business operates within the city.

5.02.070 Premises where dancing is permitted.

The license fee for taverns, cocktail lounges, and any other place of business wherein dancing is permitted and where alcoholic beverages are legally served, dispensed, sold, or permitted on the premises shall be fifty dollars ($50) per year, payable quarterly in advance.

5.02.080 Carnivals.

The license fee for carnivals offering amusement rides only shall be twenty-five dollars ($25) per year.

5.02.090 Fortunetellers.

The license fee for each fortuneteller or other vocation of a similar nature shall be ten dollars ($10) per day.

5.02.100 Shooting galleries.

The license fee for each shooting gallery, whether temporarily or permanently established shall be ten dollars ($10) per month or one dollar ($1) per day.

5.02.110 Amusements generally.

The license fee for any game, amusement, or entertainment not herein enumerated shall be determined by the city council.

5.02.120 Penalty.

Any person failing to comply with the provisions of this chapter shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined in the sum of not more than one hundred dollars ($100), or imprisoned for a term not exceeding thirty (30) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
