5.08.020 Suppression and abatement.
5.08.010 Nuisance declared.
The practice of going in and upon private residences and residence property in the city by solicitors, peddlers, hawkers, itinerant merchants and transient vendors of merchandise, not having been requested or invited so to do by the owner or owners, occupant or occupants of the private residence, for the purpose of soliciting orders for the sale of goods, wares and merchandise and/or for the purpose of disposing of and/or peddling or hawking the same, is declared to be a nuisance and punishable as such nuisance as a misdemeanor. 5.08.020 Suppression and abatement.
The chief of police and police force of the city are required and directed to suppress the nuisance described in OMC 5.08.010, and to abate any such nuisance. (Ord. 155 § 2, 1938)
5.08.030 Violation – Penalty.
Any person convicted of perpetrating a nuisance as described and prohibited in OMC 5.08.010, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined a sum of not less than $5.00 together with costs of proceedings, or not more than $100.00 together with costs of proceedings, or be imprisoned for not to exceed 30 days.
