RIDING ON SIDEWALKS

No person shall ride or lead a horse, ride a bicycle, or operate or ride a skateboard, roller blades/inline skates and/or motorcycle over and along public sidewalks within a business district. (Ord. 833 § 1, 1996; Ord. 820-A § 1, 1996)
10.40.020 Parental responsibility.
A. It is a civil infraction for any parent, guardian or other person having control of a minor child to allow said minor to operate a skateboard or bicycle or motorcycle or roller blades/inline skates or ride or lead a horse in violation of this chapter.
B. Should any person be found to have violated the provisions of this chapter more than once, the parent, guardian or other person having control of said juvenile shall have committed a civil infraction and any person, parent, guardian or other person having control of said juvenile shall be assessed a monetary penalty as set forth hereinafter. 10.40.030 Violation – Penalty.
A. Any person violating any provision of this chapter shall be subject to civil penalties and assessed a monetary penalty, which penalty shall not exceed $250.00 for each offense. In addition to said civil penalty, the sheriff’s department or members thereof may impound and retain possession of said bicycle or any of the above-stated items in OMC 10.40.010 operated in violation of the provisions of this chapter and retain possession of the same until the person or parent or guardian, in the case of a juvenile, shall appear to claim the above-stated items. The above-stated items will be returned if any impound fee is paid as follows:
1. First offense: $10.00;
2. Second offense: $25.00;
3. Third and subsequent offenses: $50.00;
and the license provided for is obtained (if applicable).
B. If the offender is under the age of 18 years, he or she may be delivered to the juvenile court for appropriate action, in addition to any other penalties assessed as set forth herein. (Ord. 833 § 3, 1996; Ord. 820-A § 3, 1996)
