COUNTY LAW AND JUSTICE COUNCIL

2.80.010 Created.
The Okanogan County law and justice council (hereafter, “council”) is created pursuant to RCW 72.09.300. (Ord. 2023-20 (Att. A), 2023; Ord. 93-4 § 1, 1993).
2.80.020 Purpose.
The purpose of the council is to provide a forum where the agencies providing justice services in Okanogan County can plan and coordinate activities and resource allocation toward the goals of enhancing local resources, reducing duplication of services, and sharing of resources between the state and local government in Okanogan County. (Ord. 2023-20 (Att. A), 2023; Ord. 93-4 § 2, 1993).
2.80.030 Membership.
A. The council shall consist of the following designated officials:
1. The county sheriff;
2. A representative of the municipal police departments within the county;
3. The county prosecuting attorney;
4. A representative of the county’s superior, juvenile, district and municipal courts;
5. A representative of the city legislative authorities within the county;
6. The administrator of the county jail;
7. The county clerk;
8. The Secretary of the Washington State Department of Corrections or designee;
9. A representative of the municipal prosecutors within the county;
10. The county risk manager.
B. Any designated official may appoint a representative to sit in his or her stead on the council.
C. A representative of the Colville Confederated Tribes and a representative of the Colville Tribal Police shall be invited to participate in any meetings of the council and may attend and take an active membership role. (Ord. 2023-20 (Att. A), 2023; Ord. 93-4 § 3, 1993).
2.80.040 Duties.
In addition to the duties described in RCW 72.09.300(3), the council may advise the BOCC and make such recommendations as it deems appropriate on matters relating to law and justice in Okanogan County. (Ord. 2023-20 (Att. A), 2023; Ord. 93-4 § 4, 1993).
2.80.050 North Central Washington Law and Justice Council – Membership.
Repealed by Ord. 2023-20. (Ord. 93-4 § 5, 1993).
2.80.060 Organization.
The council may organize itself in such manner as it deems appropriate, consistent with RCW 72.09.300, including the adoption of rules and bylaws and the formation of subcommittees. (Ord. 2023-20 (Att. A), 2023; Ord. 93-4 § 6, 1993).
