12.12.010 Traffic laws applicable to certain streets.
All law pertaining to traffic as adopted by the city shall hereafter pertain to the streets as designated herein. (Ord. 1511 (part), 2003).
12.12.020 Signs authorized.
The public works director and the street committee of the counsel shall procure and install proper signs such as may be necessary for the carrying out of this chapter. (Ord. 1516 § 1, 2004: Ord. 1511 § 1, 2003).
12.12.030 Principal arterials.
(a) STATE HIGHWAY 97. State Highway 97, as located in the city, commencing with the southerly city limits running northerly to the north city limits. (Ord. 1516 § 2, 2004: Ord. 1511 § 2, 2003).
12.12.032 Minor arterials.
The following streets or avenues in the city of Omak are declared to be minor arterials, and all roads or intersections which intersect the same shall hereafter be posted as “stop” streets with appropriate signs, and all traffic shall be required to stop before entering:
(a) OKOMA DRIVE. Okoma Drive, as located in the city, commencing at the intersection with Fourth Avenue southwesterly to the city limits;
(b) FOURTH AVENUE. Fourth Avenue, as located in the city, commencing with the intersection with Cedar Street easterly to the intersection with Main Street;
(c) MAIN STREET. Main Street, as located in the city of Omak, from the intersection with Fourth Avenue to the intersection with Dewberry Street;
(d) RIVERSIDE DRIVE. Riverside Drive, as located in the city, commencing with the boundary with Main Street easterly to its intersection with Highway 97; provided, however, that Riverside Drive at its intersection with Highway 97 shall be posted as a “stop” street with appropriate signs and signal, and all traffic shall be required to stop before entering;
(e) DAYTON STREET. Dayton Street, as located in the city, commencing with the intersection with Omak Avenue southeasterly to its intersection with Highway 97;
(f) OMAK AVENUE. Omak Avenue, as located in the city, commencing at its intersection with Main Street easterly to the east city limits. (Ord. 1516 § 6, 2004).
12.12.040 Major collector.
The following streets or avenues in the city of Omak are declared to be city major collectors, and all roads or intersections, except principle arterials, which intersect the same shall hereafter be posted as “stop” streets with appropriate signs, and all traffic shall be required to stop before entering:
(a) CHERRY AVENUE. Cherry Avenue, as located in the city, commencing at its intersection with Ash Street to the west city limits;
(b) OAK STREET. Oak Street, as located in the city, commencing at its intersection with Riverside Drive and running to the north city limits;
(c) KOALA STREET. Koala Street, as located in the city, commencing at the intersection with Sandflat Road running to the northeastern city limits;
(d) SANDFLAT ROAD. Sandflat Road, as located in the city, commencing at the intersection with Highway 97 running to the intersection with Koala Street;
(e) KERMAL GRADE. Kermal Grade, as located in the city, commencing from the west end of Cherry Street running to the western city limits. (Ord. 1516 § 3, 2004: Ord. 1511 § 3, 2003).
12.12.042 Local major collectors.
The following streets or avenues in the city of Omak are declared to be city local major collectors, and all roads or intersections, except principle arterials, which intersect the same shall hereafter be posted as “stop” streets with appropriate signs, and all traffic shall be required to stop before entering:
(a) ASH STREET. Ash Street, as located in the city, commencing at the intersection with Fourth Avenue and running to the south boundary of Dewberry Avenue;
(b) BARTLETT AVENUE. Bartlett Avenue, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Main Street to Juniper;
(c) BARTLETT AVENUE. Bartlett Avenue, as located in the city, commencing at its intersection with Ash Street and running to its intersection with Granite Street;
(d) DEWBERRY AVENUE. Dewberry Avenue, as located in the city, commencing at its intersection with Ash Street and running to its intersection with Riverside Drive;
(e) DEWBERRY. Dewberry, as located in the city, from its intersection with Juniper to its intersection with Oak Street;
(f) IRONWOOD. Ironwood, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Grape Avenue to the north city limits;
(g) JUNIPER STREET. Juniper Street, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Bartlett Avenue to Riverside Drive;
(h) LOCUST STREET. Locust Street, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Riverside Drive to the north city limits;
(i) OAK STREET. Oak Street, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Dewberry to its intersection with Riverside Drive;
(j) GRANITE STREET. Granite Street, as located in the city, commencing at its boundary with Bartlett Avenue and running to its intersection with Fourth Avenue;
(k) JASMINE. Jasmine, as located in the city, commencing at its boundary with Fourth Avenue and running to the south city limits;
(l) FOURTH AVENUE. Fourth Avenue, as located in the city, commencing at its intersection with Cedar Avenue and running to its intersection with Jasmine;
(m) QUINCE STREET. Quince Street, as located in the city, commencing at its intersection with Riverside Drive running to its intersection with Koala Drive;
(n) KOALA DRIVE. Koala Drive, as located in the city, commencing at the intersection of Quince Street and running to the north city limits; provided, however, that Shumway Road at its intersection with Koala Street shall be posted as a “stop” street with appropriate signs and signal, and all traffic shall be required to stop before entering;
(o) OMACHE STREET. Omache Street, as located in the city, commencing at the intersection with Riverside Drive running to the intersection with Koala Street;
(p) SHUMWAY ROAD. Shumway Road, as located in the city, commencing at its intersection with Highway 97 running to its intersection with Koala Street;
(q) SHUMWAY ROAD. Shumway Road, as located in the city, commencing at its intersection with Highway 97 running to the west city limits;
(r) SANDFLAT ROAD. Sandflat Road, as located in the city, commencing at the intersection with Highway 97 running to the intersection with Koala Street;
(s) GARFIELD. Garfield, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Omak Avenue to Fifth Avenue;
(t) FIFTH AVENUE. Fifth Avenue, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Garfield to its intersection with Edmonds;
(u) EDMONDS AVENUE. Edmonds Avenue, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Fifth Avenue to the south city limits;
(v) EIGHTH AVENUE. Eighth Avenue, as located in the city, commencing at the intersections with Rodeo Trail Road west to the intersection with Edmonds Avenue. (Ord. 1516 § 7, 2004).
12.12.050 Minor collector.
The following streets or avenues in the city of Omak are declared to be minor collectors, and all roads or intersections, except city major collectors and principle arterials, which intersect the same shall hereafter be posted as “stop” streets with appropriate signs, and all traffic shall be required to stop before entering:
(a) ROSS CANYON ROAD. Ross Canyon Road, as located in the city, commencing at its intersection with Riverside Drive and running to the west city limits;
(b) JACKSON STREET. Jackson Street, as located in the city, commencing at its intersection with State Highway 155 and running to its intersection with Eighth Avenue;
(c) EIGHTH AVENUE. Eighth Avenue, as located in the city, commencing at its intersection with Jackson and running to its intersection with the county road;
(d) RODEO TRAIL ROAD. Rodeo Trail Road, as located in the city, commencing at its intersection with Eighth Avenue running to the south city limits;
(e) ENGH ROAD. Engh Road, as located in the city, running from its intersection with State Highway 97 running to the east city limits;
(f) SANDFLAT ROAD. Sandflat Road, as located in the city, commencing at the intersection with Engh Road running to the intersection with Highway 97. (Ord. 1516 § 4, 2004: Ord. 1511 § 4, 2003).
12.12.052 Local minor collector.
The following streets or avenues in the city of Omak are declared to be local minor collectors, and all roads or intersections, except city major collectors and principle arterials, which intersect the same shall hereafter be posted as “stop” streets with appropriate signs, and all traffic shall be required to stop before entering:
(a) Central Avenue. Central Avenue, as located in the city of Omak, commencing at its intersection with Main Street and running to its intersection with Fir Street; provided, however, that Ash Street at its intersection with Central Avenue shall be posted as a “stop” street with appropriate signs and signal, and all traffic shall be required to stop before entering;
(b) Ash Street. Ash Street, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Dewberry Avenue to Grape Street;
(c) Apple Avenue. Apple Avenue, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Juniper Street to its intersection with Bartlett Avenue;
(d) Cherry Avenue. Cherry Avenue, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Main Street to Juniper;
(e) First Street. First Street, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Main Street to the alley west of south Cedar Street;
(f) Second Avenue. Second Avenue, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Main Street to Granite Street;
(g) Third Avenue. Third Avenue, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Main Street to Granite Street;
(h) Sixth Avenue. Sixth Avenue, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Okoma Drive to Jasmine Street;
(i) Emery. Emery, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Jasmine to its intersection with Ridge Drive;
(j) Fir Street. Fir Street, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Okoma Drive to its intersection with Ridge Drive;
(k) Ridge Drive. Ridge Drive, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Fir Street to Emery Street;
(l) West Ridge Drive. West Ridge Drive, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Emery Street to its intersection with East Ridge Drive;
(m) East Ridge Drive. East Ridge Drive, as located in the city, running from its intersection with West Ridge Drive to its intersection with Emery Street;
(n) Ironwood. Ironwood, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Grape Avenue to its intersection with Ross Canyon Road;
(o) Grape Street. Grape Street as located in the city running from its intersection with Ash Street to its intersection with Riverside Drive;
(p) Benton Street. Benton Street, as located in the city, running from the intersection of Fifth Avenue to the southern city limits;
(q) Columbia. Columbia, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Omak Avenue to Fifth Avenue;
(r) Fifth Avenue. Fifth Avenue, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Benton to its intersection with Dayton;
(s) Copple Road. Copple Road, as located in the city, running from its intersection with Koala Street to the west city limits;
(t) River Road. River Road, as located in the city, commencing from its intersection with Engh Road running to the south city limits; provided, however, that River Road at its intersection with Engh Road shall be posted as a “stop” street with appropriate signs and signal, and all traffic shall be required to stop before entering. 12.12.060 Stop intersections.
Where streets or roads of the same classification intersect (i.e., principle arterials, minor arterials, major collectors, local major collectors, minor collectors, local minor collectors) the following streets as indicated shall be deemed “stop” streets with appropriate signs:
(a) Aspen Avenue on the east side of Wildwood Drive;
(b) Aspen Avenue on the west side of Quassia Avenue;
(c) Bartlett Avenue on the west side of Juniper Street;
(d) Benton Street north of Fifth Avenue;
(e) Birch Street on the north side of Elberta Avenue;
(f) Birch Street on both sides of Dewberry Avenue;
(g) Bramble Avenue on the east side of Wildwood Drive;
(h) Cherry Avenue on the west side of Ash Street;
(i) Cherry Avenue on the west side of Juniper Street;
(k) Columbia Street on the north side of Fifth Avenue;
(l) Copple Road on the west side of Koala Drive;
(m) Cypress Avenue on the west side of Wildwood Drive;
(n) Dayton Street at Omak Avenue and Highway 97;
(o) Dewberry Avenue on the east side of Ash Street;
(p) Dewberry Avenue on the east side of Juniper Street;
(q) East Ridge Drive south of Emery Street;
(r) Edmonds Street on the north side of Fourth Avenue;
(s) Elm Street on the north side of First Avenue;
(t) Fir Street where it intersects First Avenue;
(u) First Avenue, westbound at Cedar Street;
(v) Fifth Avenue west of Benton Street;
(w) Garfield Street on south side of Seventh Avenue;
(x) Hanford Street on both sides of Seventh Avenue;
(y) Index Street on the south side of Sixth Avenue;
(z) Index Street on both sides of Seventh Avenue;
(aa) Jonathan Avenue on both sides of Kenwood Street;
(bb) Kenwood Street on the north side of Bartlett Avenue;
(cc) Locust Street on both sides of Grape Avenue;
(dd) Oak Street on the north side of Dewberry Avenue;
(ee) Omache Street on the south side of Koala Drive;
(ff) Pinyon Avenue on the east side of Wildwood Drive;
(gg) Rodeo Trail Road on the south side of Eighth Avenue;
(hh) Sandflat Road on the east side of Koala Drive;
(ii) Third Avenue on both sides of Edmonds Street. (Ord. 1516 § 5, 2004: Ord. 1511 § 5, 2003).
12.12.070 Yield intersections.
Traffic traveling on the following designated streets shall yield the right-of-way as indicated in this section:
(a) Traffic on Ridge Place shall yield right-of-way to traffic on Emery Street and Ridge Drive;
(b) Traffic on Ivy Street northbound shall yield right-of-way to traffic on Granite Street;
(c) Traffic on Fifth Avenue east or westbound shall yield right-of-way to traffic on Fir and Granite;
(d) Traffic on Pan Vista and Vista Place shall yield right-of-way to traffic on Lime Street;
(e) Traffic on Railroad Avenue westbound shall yield right-of-way to traffic on Benton;
(f) Traffic on Fourth Avenue eastbound shall yield right-of-way to traffic on Benton;
(g) Traffic on Pan Vista shall yield right-of-way to traffic on Koala Avenue;
(h) Traffic on Jonathon Avenue eastbound shall yield right-of-way to traffic on Sunrise Drive;
(i) Traffic on Railroad Avenue shall yield right-of-way to traffic on Columbia Street;
(j) Traffic on Benton Street northbound shall yield right-of-way to traffic on Fifth Avenue;
(k) Traffic on Locust Street northbound shall yield right-of-way to traffic on Dewberry Avenue;
(l) Traffic on Ironwood Street southbound merging onto Ross Canyon Road shall yield right-of-way to traffic on Ross Canyon Road;
(m) Traffic on Ironwood Street southbound merging onto Ironwood Street, west lane of the south island, shall yield right-of-way to traffic on the east lane of the south island.
Signs shall be erected at the appropriate corners of the intersections designated in this section, indicating that the right-of-way shall be yielded. (Ord. 1665 § 4 (part), 2010: Ord. 1511 § 6, 2003).
12.12.080 Penalty for violations.
Failure to perform any act required, or the performance of any act prohibited by this chapter, is designated as a civil infraction and shall not be classified as a criminal offense. Any person, firm or corporation found to have committed such a civil infraction shall be subject to the penalties as set forth in Chapter 1.16. (Ord. 1665 § 4 (part), 2010: Ord. 1511 (part), 2003).
