TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS BUREAU

10.68.020 Bail forfeiture or deposit.
10.68.010 Creation.
A. The Police Judge may establish a traffic violations bureau to assist the Court with the clerical work of traffic cases. Upon the order of the City Council the Police Judge shall cause to be established the traffic violations bureau. The bureau shall be in charge of such person or persons and shall be open at such hours as the Police Judge may designate.
B. The Police Judge who hears traffic cases shall designate the specified offenses under the traffic ordinance of this City in respect to which payments of bails may be accepted by the traffic violations bureau in satisfaction thereof, and shall specify by suitable schedules the amount of such bails for first, second, and subsequent offenses, provided the bails are within the limits declared by law or ordinance, and shall further specify what number of the offenses shall require appearance before the Police Judge. 10.68.020 Bail forfeiture or deposit.
A. Any person charged with an offense for which payment of bail may be made to the traffic violations bureau shall have the option of forfeiting the bail within the time specified in the notice of arrest at the traffic violations bureau upon waiving appearance in Court; or may have the option of depositing required lawful bail and shall be entitled to a trial as authorized by law.
B. The bureau upon accepting the prescribed bail, shall issue a receipt to the violator acknowledging payment thereof. (Ord 215 §84, 1952)
10.68.030 Duties.
The following duties are hereby imposed upon the traffic violations bureau in reference to traffic offenses:
1. It shall accept designated bail, issue receipts, and represent in court such violators as are permitted and desire to plead guilty, waive court appearance, and give power of attorney;
2. It shall receive and issue receipts for cash bail from the person who must or wishes to be heard in Court, enter the time and their appearance on the court docket, and notify the arresting officer and witnesses, if any, to be present;
3. It shall keep an easily accessible record of all violations of which each person has been guilty during the preceding twelve months. (Ord 215 §85, 1952)
10.68.040 Traffic citations.
Every Traffic Enforcement Officer shall provide in appropriate form traffic citations and shall comply with the requirements of RCW 46.64.010 and 46.64.015. (Ord 215 §86, 1952)
10.68.050 Records and reports of traffic violations.
Every Police Judge shall keep the records and make the reports required by RCW 46.52.100. (Ord 215 §87, 1952)
10.68.060 Procedure.
The traffic violations bureau shall follow such procedure as may be prescribed by the traffic ordinances of this City or as may be required by any laws of this state. (Ord 215 §88, 1952)
