10.15.010 Truck routes established.

A. The following portions of the following designated streets and highways shall be designated as truck routes within the city:

1. Sign Route 125, from west city limits of the city of Walla Walla to 9th Avenue at Plaza Way and Dalles Military Road;

2. 9th Avenue, from Plaza Way and Dalles Military Road to Pine Street;

3. Pine Street, from North 2nd Avenue to west limits of city of Walla Walla;

4. North 13th Avenue, from West Pine Street to north limits of city of Walla Walla;

5. Dell Avenue, from North 13th Avenue to west limits of city of Walla Walla;

6. Rees Avenue, from Sign Route 12 to North 13th Avenue;

7. North 4th Avenue, from West Rees Avenue to Moore Street;

8. North 2nd Avenue, from Moore Street to Pine Street;

9. Wilbur Avenue, from Isaacs Avenue to Sign Route 12;

10. Isaacs Avenue, from Tausick Way to Wilbur Avenue; and

11. Sign Route 12, from east city limits to west city limits.

B. The designated truck routes shall be conspicuously noted with approved signs at each point that a truck route changes direction and at various points along each truck route as needed. The signs shall also be placed at each major controlled intersection along the truck routes. The number, types and locations of the signs shall be determined by the city engineer. (Ord. 95-20 § 1(part), 1995).

10.15.020 Trucks – Definition.

A “truck” is defined, for the purpose of this chapter, as a vehicle with two or more axles having a licensed gross vehicle weight in excess of twenty-eight thousand pounds, excluding solid waste collection vehicles, public transit buses and school buses. (Ord. 95-20 § 1(part), 1995).

10.15.030 Compliance – Exception.

Every person operating a truck within the city limits shall remain on the designated truck routes at all times; provided, however, that any said person entering the city limits from a point not on the truck routes shall proceed immediately and directly to the nearest designated truck routes; and provided further, that any said person may leave a designated truck route for the purpose of directly proceeding to or coming from a service point. (Ord. 95-20 § 1(part), 1995).

10.15.040 Violation – Infraction.

It shall be a traffic infraction for any person to operate a truck in violation of any provision of this chapter or to fail to comply with any mandatory requirements of this chapter. (Ord. 95-20 § 1(part), 1995).

10.15.050 Violation – Penalty.

The penalty for each violation of the provisions of this chapter shall be as set forth in Section 1.24.010 of this code. (Ord. 95-20 § 1(part), 1995).
