PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT

2.18.010 Restructuring authorized--Newly created department--Public safety department.
The restructuring of city departments is authorized. The police and fire departments are combined into the newly created public safety department. (Ord. 2018-2 §1, 2018)
2.18.020 Newly created public safety director position.
For the public safety department the public safety director position is created. Job duties for the position shall be as set forth in the attachment1 to the ordinance codified in this chapter. (Ord. 2018-2 §2, 2018)
2.18.030 Confirmation of appointments.
The mayor may fill the public safety director position created under Section 2.18.020 as he deems fit. (Ord. 2018-2 §3, 2018)
2.18.040 Department staffing and operations.
Consistent with the mayor’s statutory authority, role, and duties, the staffing and operation of the newly created public safety department shall be left to mayor’s discretion. In the event it is necessary to set salaries, create positions, or amend the city’s budget as part of the restructuring, the mayor will work through the city council as appropriate or where necessary.
