10.12.010 Designated – Duty of driver.
The heavily traveled roads set forth in Sections 10.12.020 through 10.12.190 are designated as arterial highways and it shall be the duty of all persons driving or operating any vehicle on any intersecting roads or driveways to bring such vehicle to a complete stop at the point of intersection with such arterial highways. 10.12.020 Acme and Baker townships.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways: Mosquito Lake Road from State Highway SSH-1A at Acme easterly and northerly to the Mt. Baker Highway, SSH-1A at the Welcome Grange Hall. (Prior code § 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.030 Crescent township.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways:
A. Old Samish Highway from the Bellingham city limits to Pacific Highway, PSH No. 1;
B. Lake Samish Road and Nulle Road from the Pacific Highway, PSH No. 1, vicinity of Samish Inn and north of Lake Samish around southwesterly side of the Lake to the Pacific Highway, PSH No. 1, near the Whatcom-Skagit County boundary;
C. Yew Street Road from the Pacific Highway, PSH No. 1, approximately one-half mile east of Bellingham city limits, north to the Bellingham city limits. (Prior code § 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.040 Columbia township.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways: Silver Lake Road from the Sumas-Kendall Road northeasterly to Silver Lake; thence north to the Mt. Baker Highway at Maple Falls. (Prior code § 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.050 Ferndale township.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways:
A. River Road from city limits of Ferndale south to the Lummi Shore Road;
B. Smith Road from the Pacific Highway, PSH No. 1, east to the Mt. Baker Highway, PSH-l AP;
C. Axton Road from Wiser Lake Road east to the Hannegan Road;
D. Laurel Road from Wiser Lake Road east to the Hannegan Road;
E. Wiser Lake Road from the Axton Road north and east to the Hunnegar Road; thence on the Hunnegar Road to the Hannegan Road;
F. Pole Road from the Wiser Lake Road east to the Guide, SSH-1B;
G. Ferndale-Lynden Road from the Pacific Highway to the Blaine-Lynden Road;
H. Smith Road, from Highway 99 west to Hovander Road and Hovander Road, from Smith Road, to Ferndale city limits. (Prior code §§ 6.04.010 (part), 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.060 Geneva township.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways: Cable Street from the intersection of Lake Whatcom Boulevard at Lake Whatcom westerly to the intersection with Lake Whatcom Boulevard and Euclid Avenue. (Prior code § 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.070 Geneva and Park townships.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways:
A. Lake Whatcom Boulevard from the Bellingham city limits southeasterly to a junction with State Highway SSH-1A near Wickersham;
B. Cain Lake Road from the Lake Whatcom Boulevard south to the Whatcom-Skagit County line. (Prior code § 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.080 Lawrence township.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways:
A. Mission Road from the Everson-Goshen Road SSH-1A (near Everson Bridge) south to Goshen Road;
B. Goshen Road to the Mt. Baker Highway at Cedarville;
C. Siper Road from State Highway SSH-1A at Lawrence north to the Goodwin Road;
D. Goodwin Road from State Highway SSH-1A, north of Lawrence, east and north to the Telegraph Road;
E. Massey Road from State Highway SSH-1A, east to Goodwin Road;
F. Old Deming Pavement from Mt. Baker Highway, approximately one-half mile east of Nugent’s Corner, southeasterly through Deming to connect again with the Mt. Baker Highway;
G. Sand Road, Mt. Baker Highway north to Goshen Road. (Prior code §§ 6.04.010 (part), 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.090 Lummi Island.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways:
A. Nugent Road from Beach around the north end of Lummi Island to Village Point, then easterly and northerly to Beach;
B. Seashore Road from Nugent Road one and one-quarter miles south of Beach; thence south approximately one and one-quarter miles to where the Seashore Road turns east, near quarter corner to Sections 15 and 16, Township 37 North, Range 1 East of W.M.
C. Seashore and Seacrest Roads, from Nugent Road south approximately one and one-quarter miles; thence east to Seacrest; thence north on Seacrest to Seashore. (Prior code §§ 6.04.010 (part), 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.100 Lummi Reservation.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways:
A. Lummi Shore Road from Marietta to the ferry landing at Gooseberry Point;
B. Slater Road from Lummi Day School north to the township line on north boundary of Reservation; thence west to the Lake Terrel Road;
C. Lummi Bay Road from ferry landing, northeast to Slater Road;
D. Cagey Road from Lummi Shore west to Lummi Bay;
E. Chief Kwina shore west to Hillaire Road;
F. Hillaire Road from Chief Kwina to Red River Road;
G. Red River Road from Hillaire Road to northwest to Slater Road. (Prior code §§ 6.04.010 (part), 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.110 Lynden township.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways:
A. Wiser Lake Road from the Hannegan Road east and south to the Everson-Goshen Road, SSH-1A;
B. Stickney Island Road from the Lynden city limits east and south to the Everson city limits;
C. Hampton Road from the Stickney Island Road east to the Van Buren Road;
D. Vinup and Pole Line Roads from the Lynden city limits to the Blaine-Sumas Road;
E. Depot Road from the Lynden city limits north to the Visser Road;
F. Northwood Road from Blaine-Sumas Road north to the Haverstick Road;
G. Haverstick Road from the Northwood Road east to State Highway SSH-1A;
H. Northwood Road, from Stickney Island north to Blaine-Lynden pavement. (Prior code §§ 6.04.010 (part), 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.120 Marietta township.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways:
A. Marine Drive (Marietta Road) from west Bellingham city limits to Marietta;
B. Rural Avenue Road from Marietta north and east to the Northwest Diagonal Road;
C. Bennett Avenue Road from Marine Drive to Pacific Highway, PSH No. 1, near north city limits of Bellingham;
D. Northwest Diagonal and Axton Roads from city limits of Bellingham to the Ferndale city limits;
E. Baker View Road from the Bellingham Airport east to the Hannegan Road;
F. Alderwood Avenue from Bennett Avenue, west and south to Marine Drive. (Prior code §§ 6.04.010 (part), 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.130 Mountain View township.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways:
A. Lake Terrel Road from the Slater Road north to Mountain View Road;
B. Mountain View Road from Ferndale city limits west to the Kickerville Road;
C. Kickerville Road from the Mt. View Road north to the Birch Bay-Lynden Road;
D. Aldergrove Road from the Pacific Highway, PSH No. 1, west to Whitehorn Road;
E. Whitehorn Road from Aldergrove Road north to Birch Bay; thence northeasterly to the Birch Bay pavement;
F. Jackson Road from the Aldergrove Road north to the Pt. Whitehorn Road at Birch Bay;
G. Bay Road from the Ferndale-Blaine Road to the Jackson Road;
H. Church Road from the Mountain View Road to the Aldergrove Road.
I. Ferndale-Blaine Road from the city limits of Ferndale to the city limits of Blaine;
J. Kickerville Road, from Unick Road, north to Loomis Trail;
K. Gulf Road, from Kickerville to Powder Plant Road;
L. Powder Plant Road, from Gulf Road to Henry Johnson Road;
M. Henry Johnson Road, from Powder Plant Road to Jackson Road;
N. Jackson Road, from Henry Johnson to Birch Bay Road;
O. Unick Road, from Lake Terrel to Kickerville Road;
P. Grandview Road, from Pt. Whitehorn east to Enterprise Road. (Prior code §§ 6.04.010 (part), 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.140 Nooksack township.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways:
A. Van Buren Road from the Everson city limits north to the Haverstick Road;
B. South Pass Road from State Highway SSH-1A near Nooksack, northeasterly to the Sumas-Kendall Road at Blue Bird;
C. Telegraph Road from the Nooksack city limits easterly and northerly to an intersection with the Sumas-Kendall Road;
D. Giles and Alm Roads from the Nooksack city limits north and east to the Telegraph Road;
E. Sumas-Kendall Road from the Rock Road east of Sumas southeast to the Mt. Baker Highway, SSH-1A, AP, at Kendall;
F. Rock Road from the Sumas city limits east to the Anderson Road. (Prior code § 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.150 Point Roberts.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways:
A. Boundary Line Road from the International Boundary south to A.P.A. Road;
B. Gulf Road from the Boundary Line Road west to Point Roberts Dock;
C. A.P.A. Road from Boundary Line Road east to Goodman Road;
D. Boundary Road from Boundary Line Road east to Goodman Road;
E. Goodman Road from A.P.A. Road north to the International Boundary;
F. Marine Drive, from A.P.A. South; thence west; thence north to Roosevelt Road;
G. Roosevelt Road, from Marine Drive east to Goodwin Road. (Prior code §§ 6.04.010 (part), 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.160 Rome township.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways:
A. Squalicum Lake Road from the North Shore Road north to Mt. Baker Highway, PSH No. 1, AP;
B. South Y and North Y Roads from the North Shore Road north to the Mt. Baker Highway, PSH No. 1, AP. (Prior code § 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.170 Semiahmoo and Custer townships.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways:
A. Birch Bay Road from Ferndale-Blaine Road west to Birch Bay; thence northwesterly along the Bay to the Shintaffer Road;
B. Shintaffer Road from the Birch Bay Road to the Drayton Harbor Road;
C. Drayton Harbor Road from the Shintaffer Road to the Ferndale-Blaine Road;
D. Meridian Drayton Road from Birch Bay Road north to the Drayton Harbor Road;
E. Birch Bay-Lynden Road from Meridian Drayton Road east to the Tromp Road; thence north and east on the Tromp Road to the Lynden city limits;
F. Custer Road from the Ferndale-Blaine Road north and east to the Birch Bay-Lynden Road;
G. Haynie Road from the Birch Bay-Lynden Road to the Blaine-Lynden Road;
H. Blaine-Lynden Road from the Blaine city limits east and south to the Lynden city limits;
I. H Street Road from Blaine city limits east to the Guide, SSH-lB;
J. Sunrise Road from the Birch Bay-Lynden Road to the Blaine-Lynden Road;
K. Blaine-Sumas Road from the Blaine-Lynden east to State Highway SSH-1A, at the Nooksack Valley High School;
L. Bay Road, from Blaine-Ferndale pavement west to Jackson;
M. Birch Point Road from south end of Shintaffer Road west and northeasterly to Drayton Harbor Road;
N. Loomis Trail Road, from Blaine-Ferndale pavement to State Highway 99. (Prior code §§ 6.04.010 (part), 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.180 Van Wyck township.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways:
A. James Street Road from Bellingham city limits to Baker View Road;
B. Hannegan Road from Baker View Road north to Lynden city limits;
C. Noon Road from Mt. Baker Highway, SSH-1A. AP north to the Pole Road, State Highway SSH-1A;
D. Everson-Goshen Road from Mt. Baker Highway SSH-1A. AP north to the Pole Road, State Highway SSH-1A;
E. North Shore Road from Bellingham city limits easterly to the end, near south township line of Township 38 North;
F. Britton Road from the Bellingham city limits north to the Mt. Baker Highway, PSH No. 1, AP;
G. Kelley Road from the Guide, SSH-lB, U.S. 99 Alternate, east of the Hannegan Road;
H. Duer Road, from Hannegan to Dewey Roads;
I. Dewey Road, from Mt. Baker Highway to Van Wyck Road;
J. Van Wyck Road from Hannegan east to Mt. Baker Highway. (Prior §§ 6.04.010 (part), 6.04.020 (part)).
10.12.190 Ten Mile township.
The following roads are designated as arterial highways:
A. Hemmi Road from the Guide, SSH-1B, east to the Everson-Goshen Road;
