12.08.010 Official street names.
From and after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter the official name for all streets, avenues, lanes and thoroughfares within the corporate limits of town shall be and are established as shown and set forth upon that certain map on file in the office of the town clerk-treasurer designated as “Official Street Name Map, Town of Winthrop”. 12.08.020 Official street numbers.
From and after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter all proper- ties, lots, tracts, or other subdivision of property shall be and are assigned the street number as shown on that certain map on file in the office of the town clerk-treasurer designated as “Official Street Number Map, Town of Winthrop”. 12.08.030 Placement of street numbers required.
The principal improvement, structure, building or residence located upon each lot, tract, property, or other subdivision within the town shall place at or in proximity to the front entrance of the property the property number as a sign and designated for such property upon the map referred to in Section 12.08.020 of this chapter. Such number shall be not less than three inches in height and shall be of such size and placement as to be clearly visible from the street, avenue, lane or thoroughfare upon which the front entrance of the numbered building, structure or improvement faces. All numbers upon business or commercial structures within the town shall conform to the “western motif” as required by Chapter 15.08. (Ord. 474 § 3(C), 1996: Ord. 229 § 3, 1980)
12.08.040 Maps adopted.
The maps mentioned in Sections 12.08.010 and 12.08.020 are designated, established and adopted by the town, shall be known as the “Official Street Name Map, Town of Winthrop,” and “Official Street Number Map, Town of Winthrop,” which language appears on the face of each of said maps, together with the following: “Adopted by Ordinance No. 229, passed and approved April 2, 1980,” and such maps shall bear the signatures of the mayor and clerk-treasurer of the town. Such maps are by this reference thereto incorporated herein and made a part hereof the same as if herein set forth in full. (Ord. 229 § 4, 1980)
12.08.050 Notice.
The town clerk-treasurer shall notify each property owner and/or occupant of all properties subject to numbering under this chapter of the number assigned to such property. Thereafter, and within thirty (30) days of the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter, each property owner, resident, or occupant shall cause the assigned number to be placed upon the principal improvement, residence or structure, as in this chapter provided. 12.08.060 Violation—Penalty.
Any person who violates this chapter, or fails to comply with the provisions hereof, shall be deemed to have committed a civil violation, and shall be subject to a civil penalty or assessment not to exceed fifty dollars ($50.00). (Ord. 346 § 1, 1988: Ord. 229 § 7, 1980)
