8.20.010 Use restrictions.

Fire hydrants are for use by the district or by organized fire protection agencies pursuant to contract with the district. Other parties desiring to use fire hydrants for any purpose must first obtain written permission from the water and sewer utility service division prior to use and shall operate the hydrant in accordance with instructions issued by the water and sewer utility service division. Payment for such use will be made based upon the current rate structure as adopted by the board of directors. Unauthorized use of hydrants will be prosecuted according to law. 8.20.020 Alterations—Cost liability.

When a fire hydrant has been installed in the location specified by the proper authority, the district has fulfilled its obligation. If any person desires a change in the size, type or location of the hydrant, he/she shall bear all costs of such changes, without refund. Any change in the location of a fire hydrant must be approved by the proper authority. (Ord. 126 § 1 (part), 2009)

8.20.030 Fire hydrant maintenance.

Fire hydrants shall be maintained in accordance with the California Fire Code NFPA 24 and Foster City Municipal Code Chapter 15.24. (Ord. 126 § 1 (part), 2009)
