GENERAL PENALTY

1.16.020    Civil collection of fine.

1.16.010 Designated.

A. Any person violating any of the provisions or failing to comply with any of the mandatory requirements of the ordinances of the city shall be guilty of a misdemeanor unless the violation is made an infraction or civil fine by ordinance.

B. Except in cases where a different punishment is prescribed by an ordinance of the city, any person convicted of a misdemeanor for violation of an ordinance of the city shall be punished by fine or imprisonment, or both, as provided under Section 36901 of the Government Code, as such section may be amended or renumbered from time to time.

C. Any person convicted of an infraction for violation of an ordinance of the city is punishable as provided under Section 36900 of the Government Code, as such section may be amended or renumbered from time to time. (Ord. 1769, Amended 9/12/2006; Ord. 994 §1, 1978).

D. Each such person shall be guilty of a separate offense for each and every day during any portion of which any violation of any provision of the ordinances of the city is committed, continued or permitted by any such person, and he shall be punishable accordingly. 1.16.020 Civil collection of fine.

In all cases where a judgment is found that the defendant pay a fine alone for the violation of any provision of this code or any other ordinance of the city as provided in Section 1.16.010, execution may be issued thereon as on judgment in a civil action. (Prior code §1.11).
