5.80.010 License required – Fee.

No person, firm or corporation shall establish, conduct or maintain a lumberyard in the village without first having obtained a license therefor, as required in this chapter. Applications for such licenses shall be made to the village clerk in writing, and shall state thereon the location and size of the lumberyard intended. The annual fee for a lumberyard shall be one hundred ten dollars for the first two thousand square feet or less of area that the activity occupies, plus twenty-eight dollars for each additional one thousand square feet of area or part thereof; provided, that the maximum annual fee for such licenses shall be not more than five hundred fifty dollars irrespective of the total square feet of area that the lumberyard occupies. 5.80.020 Fire limits.

No lumberyard shall be established or licensed within the fire limits of the village; but this section shall not be construed to require the removal of any lumberyard which is already located or established.

5.80.030 Fire apparatus.

It shall be the duty of every person, firm or corporation owning or operating a lumberyard to have the same equipment with sufficient firefighting apparatus to handle any small fires which may start therein and to prevent their spreading.

5.80.040 Piling lumber.

It is unlawful to pile any lumber in a lumberyard in such a way that the lumber is hanging over or in danger of falling onto any adjoining property, street, alley or public way.

5.80.050 Inspections.

It shall be the duty of the fire chief to inspect every lumberyard established in the village.
