8.60.020 Bureau of fire prevention – Appointment of inspectors.

8.60.030 Duties of inspectors.
It shall be the duty of the inspectors of the fire department to enforce all building and life safety codes as adopted by the village as noted elsewhere in the ordinances of the village. They shall have such other powers and perform such other duties as are set forth in other sections of the municipal ordinances, and as may be conferred and imposed from time to time by law or ordinance. The chief of the fire department may delegate any of his powers or duties under this chapter to the inspectors. (Ord. 2012-34 § 2, 2012)

8.60.070 Fire hazards – Inspections.
It shall be the duty of the chief of the fire department to inspect, or cause to be inspected by the bureau of fire prevention, or by the fire department officers and members, as often as may be necessary, all buildings, premises and public thoroughfares and private dwellings, for the purpose of ascertaining and causing to be corrected any conditions liable to cause fire, or any violation of the provisions or intent of any ordinance of the village affecting the fire hazard. 8.60.080 Fire hazards – Order to remove.
Whenever any inspector finds in any building, or upon any premises or other place, conditions which endanger property, or finds conditions liable to interfere with the operation of the fire department or egress of occupants in case of fire, he shall order the owner or occupant to correct the condition, and such order shall forthwith be complied with by the owner or occupant of such premises or buildings, subject to appeal within twenty-four hours to the chief of the fire department. 8.60.090 Fire hazards – Service of order to remove.
A. Any owner or occupant failing to comply with an order to remove a fire hazard within the time fixed by the inspector of the bureau of fire prevention after the service of the order shall be liable to a penalty as provided in Chapter 1.20 RMC.
B. The service of any such order may be made upon the occupant of the premises to whom it is directed, either by delivering a copy of same to such occupant personally or by delivering the same to and leaving it with any person in charge of the premises, or in case no such person is found upon the premises, by affixing a copy thereof in a conspicuous place on the door to the entrance of the premises. Whenever it may be necessary to serve such an order upon the owner of premises, such an order may be served either by delivering to and leaving with the person a copy of the order, or, if such owner is absent from the jurisdiction of the inspector making the order, by mailing such copy to the owner’s last known post office address. 8.60.110 Right of entry for inspection.
The chief of the fire department, or any inspector, may, at all reasonable hours, enter any building or premises within the village for the purpose of inspecting or investigating under the provisions of the ordinances of the village. (Ord. 2012-34 § 2, 2012)
8.60.120 Police to assist bureau of fire prevention.
The police department of the village, upon request of the bureau of fire prevention, shall assist the fire department in the investigation of any fire of suspicious origin. (Ord. 2012-34 § 2, 2012)
8.60.130 Records and statistics of fires and losses.

8.60.140 Grilling and barbecuing on balconies and porches.
No person shall grill, barbecue or cook over an open flame on any balcony or porch attached to a building within the village. (Ord. 2012-34 § 2, 2012; Ord. 92-34 § 1, 1992)
