SPEED LIMITS

10.20.010 Reasonable and prudent speed.
No person shall drive a vehicle on a city street or alley in the city at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard to the actual and potential hazards then existing. (Ord. 368 § 1(A), 1968)
10.20.020 General speed limit.
Except when a special hazard exists that requires lower speed for compliance with OMC 10.20.010, and except as otherwise specifically provided, no person shall drive a vehicle on any public highway or city street in the city at a speed in excess of 25 miles per hour. (Ord. 368 § 1(B), 1968)
10.20.030 Second Avenue North and South.
The maximum speed limit shall be 35 miles per hour on Second Avenue North in the city from the southwest boundary line of Hubbard’s Addition to Okanogan extended across Second Avenue and thence to the north city limits, and on Second Avenue South from its intersection with Seattle Street to the south city limits. (Ord. 520 § 2, 1977)
10.20.040 Second Avenue North, Okanorth Acres North.
Pursuant to the provisions of RCW 46.61.415, the maximum speed limit for any vehicle shall be 35 miles per hour on Second Avenue North in the city from the northeasterly boundary line, extended, of Lot 12, Okanorth Acres, to the present northerly city limits, being on the northeasterly line of Tract 52 of plat of Gregory Tracts No. 2, extended across Second Avenue North. 10.20.050 Violation – Penalty.
Any person who violates the provisions of this chapter, except OMC 10.20.030, shall upon conviction thereof be punished by a fine of not to exceed $100.00, or by imprisonment in the city jail for not to exceed 10 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. (Ord. 397 § 3, 1970; Ord. 368 § 5, 1968)
