10.28.010 Skateboard defined.
For purposes of this chapter, a "skateboard" is any vehicle, device or conveyance with any number of wheels, with a riding surface of any design, upon which a person may place one or more feet, and which is designed to be, or can be, propelled by human power, and which is not classified as a bicycle in the California Vehicle Code. (Ord. 314 §2 Exhibit A(part), 1986).
10.28.020 Human-powered device defined.
For purposes of this chapter, a "human powered device" is (a) a skateboard, as defined in Section 10.28.010 of this chapter, or (b) any other combination of wheel(s), platform or frame constructed in a manner that permits a human to sit or stand upon or astride such device, which is propelled only by human power, and which is not otherwise defined in this code or in the California Vehicle Code. Toy vehicles and roller skates are included in this definition. (Ord: 314 §2 Exhibit A(part), 1986).
10.28.030 Riding on sidewalks in business district prohibited.
No person shall operate, or ride upon, or propel a skateboard or other human-powered device on a sidewalk in a business district in the city. For purposes of this section, the definition of "business district" set forth in Section 235 of the California Vehicle Code shall apply. (Ord. 314 §2 Exhibit A(part), 1986).
10.28.040 Riding after dark:
No person shall operate, or ride upon, or propel a skateboard or other human-powered device on any roadway or on any sidewalk in the city during hours of darkness; provided, that this section shall not apply to a properly equipped and licensed bicycle while the same is being operated on a roadway. (Ord. 314 §2 Exhibit A(part), 1986).
10.28.050 Violating Right Of Way:
No person shall operate, or ride, or propel a skateboard or other human powered device on any roadway or sidewalk in the city in such a manner as to violate the right of way of any vehicle or pedestrian, or as to endanger persons or property. (Ord. 314 §2 exhibit A, 1986)
10.28.060 Exceptions:
Nothing in this chapter shall prevent a handicapped or disabled person from using any equipment or device consistent with such person’s need for mobility on a roadway or sidewalk in the city. (Ord. 314 §2 exhibit A, 1986)
10.28.070 Violation An Infraction:
Any violation of this chapter shall be an infraction, punishable as provided in subsection 1.12.010C of this code. (Ord. 314 §2 exhibit A, 1986)
